Commercial jet fuel is not leaded.
The Environmental Protection Agency said it was proposing to declare emissions from piston-engine aircraft operating on leaded fuel as posing a danger to public health. Emissions from the 190,000 general aviation aircraft in the U.S. operating on leaded fuel account for about 76 percent of the lead entering the atmosphere.
Jet fuel used by commercial aircraft does not contain lead.
The EPA said if the proposed “endangerment finding” is finalized, it would subsequently propose regulatory standards for lead emissions from aircraft engines.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For discernment for Administrator Regan and the members of the EPA.
- For Acting Administrator Nolen as he oversees the FAA.
